Independence. It can sometimes be upsetting to service users the fact that they need help, when perhaps they have always been totally independent. We show the service user we respect their independence by encouraging the service user to, Help themselves and be and be as active as possible (wherever possible, and is safe for them to do so). Assist in the upkeep of their home (if they are able) the smallest of jobs can bring some satisfaction. To take up or continue in an interest or hobby that they enjoy, and to retain contacts with friends and family.

Choice. We aim to help service users exercise the opportunity in making choices about the services they receive in the following ways. How they would like to be addressed. Time of day/night they would like to be visited. Respect the individual, unusual, eccentric or obsessive behaviour in service users.
